A Heart No More

Hurt in my heart
Dripping tears in the sand
Blood on your hands
Drops like sweat
On the oily-dark-skin of a sporting man
But Nigeria is quiet

The blood of the innocent crawls
Down into the ground
Yet Nigeria remains quiet

The world though far
Mutters and watches on
But our media yet close
Plays blind
Why?

Because you sit
Unashamed on comfort's tighs
So you remain quiet
Tolerating people only by the ethnicity in their names

And you hope for us
To still have calm in this abode?

But why?

Maybe because of how brown the envelope has become
So the live lost
In that scourging Onitsha sun
Is worthless
Because his name is spelt Onyemaechi and not Mohamed? Q
Or the families brutalized last night
Deserve every whip lashed
And shots fired
Because they sit on a soil named Gbaramatu and not Daura?

Let the silence continue
Until this place is nothing
But desolate

Afterall
A heart with no empathy
Is a heart no more
